MINISTRY UNITS of the PRESBYTERY of the PALISADES
Ministry Units of the Presbytery of the Palisades
According to our presbytery’s STANDING RULES, there are to be five Ministry Units within the Presbytery. These are:
- Congregation Support and Resourcing Unit (CSR)
- Congregation Planning and Mission Strategy Unit (CPMS)
- Mission Communication Unit
- Spiritual Development and Theology Unit (SDT)
- Social Justice Priorites Unit (SJP)
According to our STANDING RULES, they
- Are to be guided in their work by the Presbytery Mission Statement.
- Are to have the freedom to decide the scope of their work in accord with the Mission Statement.
- May form sub-committees from the membership of the Units and others coopted when necessary, but a majority of the membership of these must be clergy and elders.
- Are encouraged to use time-limited task force groups to implement their responsibilities in order to enhance flexibility.
According to our STANDING RULES,
- Uunordained lay persons may be members of a Ministry Unit and may serve on task forces and subcommittees, and
- The chair of each Unit is to be nominated by the Nominating Committee for election by the Presbytery, with opportunity for nomination from the floor (with the requirement that a chairperson must be a member of the Unit to which he or she is being elected as chair).
