What did the 217th General Assembly (2006) do?

The General Assembly retained the ordination standards and lifted up the historic responsibility of governing bodies to examine rigorously each and every candidate for minister, elder, or deacon, considering whether they are qualified and called, and whether they adhere to the essentials of Reformed faith and practice.

New Sanctuary at West Side Ridgewood With great joy and thanksgiving, the congregation of The West Side Presbyterian Church of Ridgewood, NJ, dedicated their new sanctuary complex on Sunday, June 4.

The Rev. Jean Marie Peacock, Vice Moderator of the 216th General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (USA), and the Rev. Susan Friedl, Interim Executive Presbyter of the Presbytery of the Palisades, participated in the service, which followed the full traditional Presbyterian litany of dedication of a new church building.
