Presbytery Meeting, September 2007
The meeting was held at Edgewater, Church on the Edge. The worship service was conducted by Rev. Pius Nthenge and area friends from the Presbyterian Church in Kenya.
Greetings were conveyed from:
- Rev. German Ezequiel Suarez, Moderator of the Central Presbytery Corporatio, Presbyterian Church Reformed Synod, Colombia. Presbytery voted to request the Council, in consultation with the Latino Ministry Team, to explore the possibility and the implications of a partnership between the two Presbyteries.
- Rev. Maria Ramirez , Moderator of the Central Presbytery, Presbyterian Church of Venzuela.
The Presbytery received and welcomed
- The Rev. Peter Wilkinson, recently called to be Pastor of Rutherford Presbyterian Church
- The Rev. Ezzat Shaker Elyas called to be Pastor of Jersey City Mideast Evangelical Church.
- -Elder Guillermo Lopez as a Commissioned Lay Pastor to serve Hispanic Churches in coordination with the Latino Ministries Team.
- -Elder Barbara Kellam-Scott to be recognized as Writer-in-Resident of the Presbytery of the Palisades

Revision of the Standing Rules of the Presbytery were voted on and passed. Copies will be available via e-mail, Presbytery website or request a print-out from the Presbytery Office.

Council reported
- Initial presentation of 2008 budget
- Recommended and obtained approval for a 5% increase in the per capita apportionment of the Presbytery portion. That would be $16.45 from $15.66.
- Concurred and obtained the Presbytery approval, on the Personnel Committee recommendation, to hire, for the period of one year, an Accountacnt/Bookkeeeper, to implement and transfer information from the Quicken books to the ACS Financial module.

Committee On Ministry
The Administrative Commission for the Claremont Lafayette United Presbyterian Church (CLUPC) gave a report.
The COM recommended and received approval for the following re CLUPC:
- Dissolve the relationship between the church and Rev. Dr. Rudolph Daniels Sr. as of August 23, 2007
- Establish The Rev. Carlisle Dickson as Stated Supply, and appoint him as Moderator of Session
The Presbytery committed to help and support the church rebuild and move forward.
Other recommendations and approvals:
- Grant the status of Honorably retired to Rev. Michael Pulsifer, effective October 1, 2007 and dismiss him to the Presbytery of Philadelphia, upon their request
- Dissolve the Administrative Commission for Mideast Evangelical Church.
- Establish Administrative Commissions for the Installation services of Rev. Fran Thiessen, Ezzat Shaker, Perter Wilkinson, and ordination of Donna Firschkenecht.

Social Justice Priorities Unit
Gave a brief report about their work and the continuing efforts through The Katrina Response Team to rebuild Churches, homes and ultimately lives in New Orleans.

- The “Homes for Christmas” campaign was reintroduced with the goal to raise the funds needed to help a total of 300 families rebuild their homes in time for Christmas, 2007. A collection was made during the Meeting for a total of $337.19 (& $1000 pledged) towards the goal of raising $15000 in 2007. Contact mikecarrier@earthlink.org
