A Multicultural Outreach Event
A Multicultural Outreach Event On August 14-19, two churches from the Presbytery of the Palisades, Mideast Evangelical Church (under the leadership of Elder Joseph Faragalla); and West New York, Iglesia Presbiteriana Metodista Hispana (under the leadership of Rev. Gustavo Vasquez), teamed up with three other churches from Boston, California and Jersey City, in a great outreach ministry.
The target of this mission was to reach the unchurched, unevangelised Spanish and Arabic speaking people in Paterson, Jersey City, and Union City.
The teams sang, distributed Bibles, books, tracts, DVDs, Jesus Film, and shared the Good News one-on-one. They touched an average of 100 people a day. To their great surprise and joy, people were open and interested and many people who heard the Gospel for the first time, decided to follow Christ. Some members of the team also visited a nearby mosque for Friday prayers to establish good will relationships. On the weekend, singers from the Presbyterian Church in Temple City, CA, presented two inspiring concerts in Jersey City. Plans are in place to follow-up the new believers.
This is the first time in recent years that several churches/ denominations (Methodist, Baptist, and Presbyterian) worked together in unity to reach out to the, ever increasing, ethnic populations in these locations.
Please pray for the different teams as they continue ministry in Boston and California, as well as for the continuation of Evangelism efforts in Jersey City, West New York and Paterson. Also, pray for those who have been and those who will be touched by the Grace of God.
