One of "Our Own"

It was with sadness and shock that we learned of the sudden and unexpected death, on November 28, 2006, of one of "our own." Elder Emil Brandes died - apparently peacefully - at his home in Fair Lawn.
A long time member and Elder of the United Presbyterian Church of Paterson, an avid sports fan, who often sported the cap of one of his favorite teams (even to Council Meetings!), and devoted and tireless laborer in the vineyards of Palisades Presbytery's Moderator, member of Committees and Units too numerous even to remember. Emil was all of these things and so much more. At the time of his death, Emil was a member of the Presbytery Council, Chair of the Council's Finance Committee, and President of the Presbytery's Board of Trustees.

Although we will miss him terribly, we can take comfort in the fact that he has entered into Everlasting Life, where he has, no doubt, heard that familiar refrain, "Well done, good and faithful servant."

In accordance with the wishes of his family, Visitation will be on Friday, December 1st, from 2:00 - 4:00 P.M., and from 7:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M., at the Vander Plaat Colonial Home, 13-31 Saddle River Road, Fair Lawn, New Jersey 07410 (201-797-3500).

The Funeral Service will also be held at the Vander Plaat Colonial Home on Saturday, December 2, 2006, at 10:00 A.M., with an interment following.

The Rev. Wayne Holcomb will be presiding at the Funeral Service in the absence of Emil's Pastor, the Rev. David Thornton, who is out of state through the weekend.

Our good thoughts and prayers are with his family and many friends, and with his Church family at Paterson, United.

Sincerely,

Gregory J. Keosaian
